"My painting is known for bold use of color and strong line. I have developed my own school of 'Fauvism", which I call dog-fauvism. My subjects wear colors not found in nature, or even in the natural order of things. You would never mistake my work for a photo, and you would never mistake the dogs as grand-champions. However, my dogs will very likely remind you of one you've owned--either now or in your childhood. And they look back at you with the knowledge you alone always gave them credit for. I rarely paint cats--but you can ask. My people portraits are just as much fun and just as revealing."

Tylczak studied art at Evergreen Grade School, Stephens College and the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. She even earned a Bachelor of Arts, but now she's married to him. Of her popular dog paintings she says, "Embrace a dog. It'll make you happy."
