"For no particular reason I started painting when I turned 50. In the beginning everything I painted was a face. I thought, okay, that’s all fine. Let’s try to paint a landscape, and I tried but I saw faces in the trees and sky. So I stopped trying to paint landscapes and surrendered to that inexplicable something which motivated me to stand in front of the blank “canvas” and see what would come out. What always came out was a face.

Most of the time it was an anonymous face, someone perhaps whom I had seen or a composite of features that fit together at that time. Though I started without a reason to paint I continue ferociously as if to stop would simply be unthinkable.

I have been in the music business since 1968. Through various jobs I have worked closely with many performers. I’ve been an agent, someone who arranges tours; a manager, someone who advises the performer. Currently, I’m a promoter, someone who presents performers at a particular venue. How fitting I thought, that I could look back at some of those performers whose career intersected with mine and see what might be rattling around looking for expression.
