"I
grew up in Seattle’s Capitol Hill area where I
started my doodling career in elementary school. At
Garfield High School I advanced to incredibly
detailed psychedelic cards. After almost 30 years of
window display work, it’s still all about “the
details” - which is a curse but part of the
obsessive territory of my talent.
In my artwork I prefer my lose wild style to my
tighter pieces (because it’s freeing -a nod to
Carol Schwennesen’s teaching) but I was driven to
work in a more exacting process for timely themes
like Clueless.
For watercolors, I identified with William Hewson’s
technique because after all the hard work, you got
to splatter the paint.
I’m a huge art appreciator but I also love the
perfection of accidental beauty. In other words, I’m
a visual junkie. Nothing is more fun than walking
down a new street with my ol’ love Chai, jabbing
each other in the sides to look here, to look there.
He’s taught me the most about art and how to see the
world around me."
